Product FAQs

Our mission is for Lil’Kooee’s Natural Instinct Bottle to be every parent’s first choice when it comes to bottle feeding. Paired with our Natural Instinct Teat, featuring our innovative Airshield® Valve, it is designed to work in harmony with a baby’s natural feeding reflexes. Unlike wide-neck bottles, which encourage babies to rely on their lips and lower jaw (often leading to sucking blisters on the top lip), the Natural Instinct Teat supports a biological latch. The elongated shape will sit comfortably in your baby’s mouth, triggering their instinctive sucking reflex, allowing their tongue and palate to work in a natural, rhythmic sucking motion.

Our custom Airshield® Valve ensures that air remains inside the bottle instead of travelling into your baby’s tummy, significantly reducing wind, discomfort, and colic-like symptoms.

With this unique combination of design and function, the Natural Instinct Bottle will create a more comfortable, instinctive, and healthier feeding experience for you and your baby - guaranteed!

Polyamide (PA) is a high-performance material that is lightweight, durable, and has glass-like clarity. Unlike other bottle materials, PA can withstand extremely high temperatures (up to 180-200°C), significantly reducing the degrading process during heated sterilsation which in return mitigates microplastic shedding, making it a safe and healthier alternative to other bottle materials. PA is notorious for its longevity and service-life as well as not absorbing any odors or colors. PA is also 100% BPA, BPS, and BPF-free.

After extensive research (please find all of the cited resources in our 'Research Hub'), we chose PA because it eliminates common concerns parents have with other materials like PP, PPSU, glass, and silicone. Combined with our Natural Instinct Teat featuring the Airshield® Valve, Lil’Kooee bottles provide a safe, hygienic, and superior feeding experience for babies and parents alike.

PP (polypropylene) is a plastic material most commonly used to produce infant feeding bottles worldwide - mostly due to how cost effective is it to manufacture in large quantities. However, PP has an extremely low heat-resistant threshold and when expose to temperatures exceeding 70°C, the plastic's structural integrity begins to degrade and millions of microplastic particles are released into the contents of the bottle. This means PP bottles, even when brand new, as soon as they are exposed to boiling water or sterilisation processes such as steam or UV, immediately start to degrade and become unsafe to use.

Similarly, while PPSU is a more premium and safer material available on the market, many parents are reluctant because of it’s yellow, “honey toned” appearance, as it makes the contents difficult to see and its cleanliness hard to determine.

This is why Lil'Kooee has opted to use PA. Overall, PA is the high-quality, more premium material, offering glass-like clarity, exceptional durability and a superior heat resistance of up to 180-200°C. PA is also guaranteed BPA/BPS/BPF free.

We recommend boiling, countertop steam/dry sterilizers or hand washing/dishwasher (top-rack) for frequent/everyday bottle sterilising. These sterilisation methods have been thoroughly tested with our Natural Instinct Bottles and they passed with flying colours! While Lil’Kooee bottles can be UV or microwave sterilised these are the least favoured options not just for our bottles but for any infant bottle due to the volatile conditions that occur.

For our Natural Instinct Bottles, we recommend replacing them every 12-18 months for a single bottle which is sterilised and used once a day. However, if you find yourself using and sterilising a single bottle more than once a day, we recommend replacing it more frequently for optimal usage. Also, whilst our bottles are made from a highly durable, scratch free material, damage can still occur after repeated use, it is recommended to discard the bottle and replace after first signs of wear or damage. To minimise damage and extend the lifespan, we recommend using the Lil’Kooee Bottle & Teat Cleaning Set.

Many narrow-neck bottles on the market have issues with air regulation, causing teat collapse, leaks, and inconsistent milk flow. Lil’Kooee’s Natural Instinct Teat solves these problems with our unique Airshield® valve, which regulates airflow to prevent gas, colic, and spit-up.

Unlike other teats, our valve ensures a consistent flow rate, eliminating the requirement of additional PP plastic components within the bottle which increase microplastic exposure, or the need to continuously adjust the cap's tightness. Plus, our bottle lids feature a built-in spur to prevent leaks when stored or shaken. Our teat design minimizes fuss and maximises function, creating a comfortable, frustration-free feeding experience for both baby and parent!

For easy identification and understanding, we have embossed sizing on every teat for each of our different flow rates. Our flow rates include NB, SS, S, M & X, each of which have their own intended age bracket.

However, we understand that every baby is unique, and their feeding needs change as they grow. To make finding the perfect flow rate easy and less wasteful, Lil’Kooee offers Natural Instinct Teat Trial Packs.

  • Stage 1 Trial Pack: Includes NB, SS, and S teats (suitable for 0-6 months).
  • Stage 2 Trial Pack: Includes S, M, and X teats (suitable for 3-12 months).

These packs allow you to test different flow rates without the guesswork or extra expense—helping you find the best option for your baby’s comfort and feeding pace.

Both our bottle sizes come with teats! Our 120ml Natural Instinct Bottle comes with our ‘NB’ (Newborn) teat suitable for newborns up to 5kg. Our 240ml comes with our ‘S’ teat which is most suitable for little ones 3+ months.

For our Natural Instinct Teats, we recommend replacing them every 12 weeks for a teat that is sterilised and used once a day. However, if you find your little one likes a more intensive feed, then we recommend replacing teats more frequently for optimal usage. Also, examine your teats before use, if you notice any signs of wear and tear, discolouration or cracks, discard the teat and purchased a new set. You can also find this same reminder on the side of our teat packaging!

Our founder Susie has designed our Lil’Kooee silicon weaning spoon so bubs can have a successful and enjoyable feeding experience. The flat, thin tip is perfect to get past sensitive little gums and lips, and the width of the spoon means they don’t have to overstretch their mouth. Additionally, the deeper base at the back of the spoon head means it will complement self-feeding when they are developmentally ready to do so!

Most babies are ready to commence first solids between 4-6 months. Our spoons are designed to ensure a positive and memorable solids experience. When they are developmentally ready the spoon will fit into a little one’s hand and has a short enough handle to encourage self-feeding.

The main concern for parents who choose a narrow neck bottle is the mess that is created when adding formula or other contents through such a narrow opening. Especially when working one handed or when in a rush!

Lil’Kooee has created a product when resolves this issue, with our very own “Formula Funnel”. Our funnel sits snug in the neck of both our Natural Instinct Bottles, allowing for the same opening size you would have with a wide neck bottle.

Bottle cleaning can be a really tedious task! To make this task much easier and quicker, we recommend the Lil’Kooee Bottle and Teat Cleaning Set. Our bottle cleaning brush is designed to not only fit perfectly in our Natural Instinct Bottles, but also allows for a quick, hygienic clean thank to its ergonomic, 360° rotating handle. Our teat cleaning brush has a rigid, silicon ridges covering all sides of the tip which also allows for a quick, hygienic cleaning process.

The best types of feeding bowls are typically lightweight, non-slip and have high sides for easy scooping. Our “Grip ‘n’ Go Bowl has all these attributes as well as a strong, suction base which holds it down to any smooth surface. No more food flying across the kitchen or living room! Our Grip ‘n’ Go Bowl is perfect for both at home and on-the-go, making snack time easier for bub and mess-free for parents! The tight fitting silicon lid makes storing left overs a breeze, keeping the food fresh either in the fridge or in a baby bag.

Yes, the formula dispenser has 4 raised sectioned sides that sit snug up against the inside of the lid so when you turn in upside down to tap into the bottle the remaining portions will stay within the sections.
