Yes! PA is naturally BPA, BPS, BPF & toxin-free.

PA has a high heat resistance of <180°C. Standard sterilisation temperatures reach a boiling point of 100°C, therefore heat does not impact or break down the material in the same way as PP, which only has a temperature resistance of 100-110°C. Microplastic exposure is a result of the internal degrading of the plastic. The clouding of the plastic also seen in traditional PP bottles are the additives added for visual clarity breaking down as well. This is why PP bottles need replacing every 3-6 months depending on frequency of use. PA bottles will not require as frequent replacing with expected lifespan of 12 months+ as long as they are cleaned/sterilisation using the recommended methods.

This is one of the mains reasons why we designed and developed the Lil'Kooee Natural Instinct Bottles & Teats. There is a HUGE amount of misinformation online that wide neck teats mimic a breast, but that is not the case. Not based of our own bias, but based of factual scientific information. Have you ever wondered why maternity wards across the world still use narrow neck teats. Because narrow neck teats have more functional similarities that more effectively mimic the biological functionality of a breast. Due to the contoured shape of a narrow neck teat, the shape offers the same deep latch a breast nipple offers in order to trigger a baby's instinctive sucking reflex. This reflex is was further stimulates a baby's natural suck-swallow-breathe pattern which both in return, encourage optimal oral muscle development & nutritional intake as well as calm, instinctive feeding.

Additionally, we've added our own Lil'Kooee differences to our narrow neck teats. First is our calibrated 'NB' and 'SS' flow rates. These flow rates have been meticulously calibrated to offer genuine 'slow flow' rates. Our 'NB' teat is 4.98mls/min which offers an extremely close replication of what would be experienced on the breast. Comparatively, Pigeon Flexible­™ Peristaltic 0+ is at 12.36mls/min & Dr Brown's Preemie Flow is at 13.77mls. These flow rates are exactly why pace feeding has become a feeding strategy - to control how fast the milk flow is and to minimise colic & reflux due to ingested wind.

Yes! Our 250ml Natural Instinct Bottles comes with our 'S' flow Natural Instinct Teat, which is suitable for 3-6 months.

Our 120ml bottles come with our 'NB' flow Natural Instinct Teat, which offers a genuine 'slow flow' for newborns up to approx. 5kg. (Flow rate of 4.98mls/min)

This comes down to personal preference. Some parents like the 120ml bottles for their Newborn - 2 month old as the bottles have the right volume and our 'NB' Natural Instinct Teat.

Other parents prefer to opt for the 250ml bottles to begin with along with extra packs of our 'NB' and 'SS' flow Natural Instinct Teats. This options allows feeding coverage from 0 - 6 months.

The best sterilisation methods for PA are steam-dry sterilising, boiling, top rack dishwasher and cold water chemical stilierisers such as Milton.

While we have found no immediate issues with PA being UV sterilised, multiple international health departments state they do not recommend UV sterilisation due to minimal long-term safety data around this sterilisation method. For this reason, we also DO NOT recommend this sterilisatino method for our bottles and encourage parents not to use one for any baby product.

Our bottles CAN NOT be microwave sterilised as PA cannot withstand the microwave energy developed in a microwave. We also encouraged parents not to microwave any plastic baby bottle as plastic does not have the material integrity to withstand the volatile heat environment created in a microwave. The only material safe to microwave is glass.

This is a common question, and it stems from the "Breast is Best" messaging that has shaped parenting advice since wide-neck teats became popular. Here's what the science actually tells us.

The key difference between a breast and a wide-neck teat

A real breast nipple can extend deep into a baby's mouth, which does two important things:

• Creates a deep latch
• Stimulates lingual cupping - the natural tongue movement that triggers a baby's sucking reflex

A wide-neck silicone teat cannot replicate this. It also lacks an areola, which on a real breast acts as a signal between the skin, milk glands, and nipple to coordinate milk flow.

Without these mechanics, babies tend to compensate by feeding from their lips and lower jaw - a shallow latch that can cause feeding difficulties.

What about the wide splay of a breast?

Yes, a wide lip splay is important when breastfeeding - it helps a baby engage with the areola. But that's not what wide-neck teats are designed to replicate. The shape looks similar, but the function is entirely different.

What hospitals do

Maternity wards recognise this distinction. When newborns need feeding support while establishing breastfeeding, they are offered narrow neck teats - not wide ones.

Our approach

A baby will not be required to pace-feed when using Lil'Kooee's bottles & teats. Thanks to our meticuously calibrated flow rates and Airshield® Valve technology, your bub's feeding experience using our bottles will be slow enough for them to regulate the feed themselves.

Please note, if you are using a different branded bottle currently and are having to pace-feed, it is most likely due to the fact the flow rate is too fast. Furthermore, the bottle positioning required to pace-feed also alters the mechanics of the venting system as most require the teat to be fully filled with milk.

Yes! We had these teats tested by Infant Feeding Labs USA, to ensure our flow rates were sitting in the genuine slow flow range. Teat flow rates are a unregulated factor to teat manufacturing, so bottle and/or teats claiming to be suitable for newborns can have a flow rate anywhere from 5ml to 45mls per minute.

For reference, our 'NB' teats are 4.98mls/minute and our 'SS' teats are 8.69 mls/minute.

Our Airshield® Valve has been specifically engineered using what's called a one-way release duck-billed valve. This valve works by breaking/releasing the vacuum created inside the bottle as bub drinks. This release of pressure establishing regulated airflow inside the bottle, venting air back into the bottle and away from being ingested by bub. This system is evident through a continuous stream of bubbles whilst bub is drinking.

By swallowing less air as they are feeding, this helps burping post-feed which in essense minimises the underlying factor of trapped air in their tummy - which is what exasperates colic, wind discomfort and reflux.

The narrow shape of our teats also allows for a tight seal, so there are no air gaps between the silicone and bubs lips. This stops air getting in through the sides of the mouth (a notorious issue with wide neck teats).

For those with a bub aged 0 - 3 months, our 'NB' and 'SS' have slower flow rates than all other narrow neck teats suitable for that age bracket. Our slower flow rates of 4.98mls/min (NB) and 8.69mls/min (SS), allow bub to calmly regulate their suck-swallow-breathe pattern which is a instinctive reflex that minimises gulping or fast swallowing - which is other common factor which exasperates colic, wind & reflux issues.

This is unfortunately a very common notion in the parenting space that was brought about due to the "Breast is Best" messaging forced-fed to parents since the introduction of wide-neck teats.

Here is the truth; silicone wide neck teats do not offer the same biological feeding mechanics of which a breast does. Granted, we do want a wide splay on a breast as this allows a baby's lips to engage with the areola, the area of skin around a nipple which communicates the let-down of breastmilk from the milk-glands. However, the key difference between a breast and a wide neck teat is that a breast nipple has a biological ability to extend deeper into a baby's mouth allowing for a deep latch and stimulation of lingual cupping with their tongue and therefore their natural sucking reflex. A wide-neck silicone nipple does not do this whatsoever. There is no areola on a silicone nipple so no communication is established between the milk glands, milk sinuses and the nipple for extension. This results in the common feeding issue of lip and lower jaw feeding, as a wide neck teat does not support a deep enough latch in a baby's mouth to trigger the sucking lingual cupping and the sucking reflex.

This biological knowledge and understanding extends to all maternity wards, where bubs who are beginning their breastfeeding journey are only offered a narrow neck teat if feeding support is required.

Overall, Lil'Kooee is focused on a baby's natural feeding instincts (hence the product name) around feeding. This is the reasoning behind our choice to use narrow neck teats.

Yes absolutely! The firm rectangular handle will encourage a tight 'palmer grasp', keeping their wrist locked in place as they guide the spoon to their mouth. The flat tip alongside the deeper base will offer a more successful mouthful as well as eliminating the need to do an upper sweep motion to use their top lip to clear the spoon contents.

Silicone bottle & teat brushes are a much more safer option for cleaning your bottles & teats. Not only is it less abrasive on the interior of the bottle and teats bu tit is also significantly more hygienic as you can sterilise the brushes as well. Comparatively, sponge brushes or brushes with a sponge component are germ fests! The sponge absorbs the milky water during a clean and then sit at your sink growing hidden bacteria that you never see! Wire brushes are completely ineffective with cleaning milk residue as well.

Yes, our Bottle & Teat Cleaning Set has many uses and is compatible with cleaning any bottles and teats. We have also had customers use the brushes to clean breast pump parts, everyday water bottles & even coffee machine & water filters!

Unfortunately, our brushes don't come with a stand but they do have a hanging tab at the end of each handle for customers who have a suitable hanging space in their household. Otherwise, we recommend storing them in a tall cup at the sink of the sink, in a side-sink dish dryer or even in the dishwasher top rack when no tin use.

Yes absolutely! If you make up milk in a flask to keep warm, the funnel can be used to ensure every drop goes into the bottle!

Yes, the funnel should allow the powder to slide through into the bottle with minimal clumping. Any powder that catches on the sides just requires a light tap and the rest will follow.
